Bailey’s Story

Bailey in hospitalAs a high-energy, self-assured and happy 18 month old Bailey was diagnosed on August 25, 2014 with Stage IV Neuroblastoma, a type of cancerous tumor that occurs almost exclusively among infants and children and can spread to other parts of the body.

She received treatments for 18 months at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles including chemo, surgery, stem cell retrieval, stem cell transplant and immunotherapy. During her treatment, there were times when Bailey was unable to walk, crawl or move her legs. Yet she was always happy, inquisitive, bubbly, and a pure delight to be with. Because she was not yet 2 years old, she had a better chance to survive than if she was older. However, all the best efforts of the doctors and treatment plans were unable to save Bailey. Bailey lost her cancer fight on 7/11/2015.

“The care calendar helped us have meals delivered both to the hospital and home and also gave us the opportunity to schedule house cleaning that was paid for. This became very helpful to us when we were in and out of the hospital. The care calendar gave us the opportunity to enjoy our family when we were all home together and took the pressure off of us. We are so grateful to Here to Serve! Thank you for all you have done for our family!”
